16 Days of Action - Street Harassment Survey 30-Nov-2011

November 2011 - Hollaback! West Yorkshire launch the first ever survey into street harassment in West Yorkshire as part of the Leeds 16 Days of Action.

The Leeds 16 Days of action is part of an international campaign to end violence against women. The 16 days are a symbolic link between the International Day to End Violence Against Women and International Human Rights Day. Events and campaigns take place all around the world to raise awareness and encourage support for women and children experiencing violence.

Hollaback! West Yorkshire launched in August and to date has received almost fifty experiences of street harassment in West Yorkshire ranging from shouting comments, being touched, groped and followed in West Yorkshire. Fed up of street harassment, Emma Romanowicz and Louise Westbrooke launched the site and have been committed to working online and offline to highlight the issue of and bring an end to street harassment in our community, through attending events, running workshops and offering advice and guidance.
